i guess wearing a fucking mask makes you an awesome dj. just like danger, daft punk and bloody beetroots, deadmau5 strikes hard with his epic beats while wearing a mascot helmet in the process. i would definitely like to go see him perform november 25th in nyc, but unfortunately that's the night before thanksgiving, and i don't think my family would think too kindly of me if i do. enjoy it bitches.
two white guys, diplo and switch, team up to produce some crazy reggae under the name major lazer, a jamaican commando with a prosthetic laser arm that fights zombies and vampires.... how can this shit be bad? here are some of the beats they laid down for a variety of artists, my favorite being "baby" just because there is an auto-tuned baby in it.
Major Lazer - Cash Flow feat. Jah Dan (mp3) (mfire)
Major Lazer - Keep It Goin' Louder feat. Nina Sky & Ricky Blaze (mp3) (mfire)
Major Lazer - Hold the Line feat. Mr. Lexx & Santigold (Mexicans with Guns Remix) (mp3) (mfire)
Major Lazer - Baby feat. Prince Zimbo (mp3) (mfire)
if you like girl talk, you'll definitely like super mash bros. not even girl talk has the balls to lay soulja boy over sandstorm. check it out, both albums are free thanks to copyright infringement laws.
not only are his remixes awesome (as you can tell from the "divine" remix 3 posts ago), his original stuff is just as good, even though all the songs are strangely named in the french time format. "11h30" may seem weird because of its "lyrics," but danger said in an interview that the so called lyrics were in fact just random syllables and sounds. my favorite is "revolte at 22h10, which should be called "weak generation (danger remix)" by the french duo revolte. more on them in the next guillotine post. there is a good danger remix of "american boy," but the bitrate on the only version is so low that i can't subject you to it.
all i have stuck in my head right now is "remedy" by british pop/techno star, little boots. does that make me gay? probably. does this make me gay?
probably not.
when she performs live, she just has a synth player, a drummer and a little light bright board called a tenori-on that makes lots of cool noises that make me want one. to avoid getting this post taken down (again), i'm not going to link any songs straight off her new album, hands.
i'm still gay.
Little Boots - Remedy (Buffetlibre vs Sidechains Remix) (mp3) (mfire)
Little Boots - Stuck on Repeat (Fake Blood Remix) (mp3) (mfire)
to kick start this shit up again i present alexander rida, aka boys noize, and a couple of this german dude's remixes and tracks. "ja!" was actually back from before he was known as boys noize, performing under the name kiD Alex. enjoy, there will be more to come.
let the french revolution begin. in the guillotine, i'll cover the best electronic artists to come from everyones least favorite country, france. sebastiAn is an associated act with justice and daft punk, so odds are you're gonna like him. sébastien tellier isn't really electro, but more french pop (so sue me), his tracks are pretty remixable though. his most recent album has probably had every song remixed by different artists already. i put up one of my favorite remixes by danger (also french, and i'll put up more by him in another guillotine post). "sexual sportswear" mixes both artists together and comes out sounding something like ratatat, which is a good thing. "la ritournelle" you'll notice is not electro, but i guarantee it will put you in a happy mood for the 7+ minutes it plays, i could listen to it over and over and never get tired of it.
tomorrow night is ufc in montreal... and it will be fucking epic. why not celebrate with some canadian hardcore fight music? kreeyate pumps out some high energy electro that makes you wanna stab bitches. what better way to get psyched up to see some fucking blood? suck on these.
KreeYate - Do It Or Die (ReKreeYated) (mp3) (mfire)
discotech can remix anything and people would like it. they can make vanilla ice sound like the best rapper ever. they can make celine dion sound good enough so that you don't feel the need to slit your wrists and set yourself on fire. they one up the bloody beetroots in taking any genre of music and being able to tune it up to the point where it is actually 150% better than the original. they also do that thing i love by taking 80's songs and making them fucking epic, like "roxanne" and "thriller." shitty alternative? throw some chris cornell their way, that douchebag (i can't believe i used to like you). shitty rap? sure give 'em some eminem. MOTHERFUCKING COLDPLAY?!?!?!??? in that case, i like when the approach to remixing a song consists of playing the first 30 seconds, then getting rid of the parts that suck (the rest of the song) and replacing them with parts that are better because they sound nothing like the original. these guys can even remix good songs and not ruin them.
discotech is the best thing to come from germany since the holoc- i mean... hefeweizen...
the final solution.
The Police - Roxanne (DiscoTech Remix) (mp3) (mfire)
Michael Jackson - Thriller (DiscoTech Remix) (mp3) (mfire)

the first installment of nigga tuesday (zip files suck)
tracks from NASA and POS. i don't normally like rap but his shit is awesome. his music is more in a "rock rap" genre, which i guess makes mainstream rap fans skeptical (thank linkin park and limp bizkit for that shit). i think the guitar riffs and stuff like that make hip-hop better, which is the same i have to say about the knux. "pos is ruining my life" is a good example of his style. watch the vid below for a track from his new album never better
NASA aren't of african american decent (NASA meaning north america/south america), but these two producers lay down some sweet beats behind artists like kanye, method man, ghostface killah and odb. my favorite track is gifted ft. kanye, santigold and lykke li, whom i have many naughty dreams about. the vid is weird and trippy.
(this post has been redone because .zip files are evil and clog up the little webspace i have)
(also if you've never seen a computer before and don't know how to save a file by right clicking it and selecting save file as... you need serious help)
the bloody beetroots are some of the masters of remix. i especially love when cheesy 80's songs like "she's a maniac" get remixed into one fucking awesome track. check 'em out.
The Bloody Beetroots - Ezekiel Eats Red Hoodie (mp3) (mfire)
the guillotine will be a segment that will contain all of the best french electronic music the french have to offer, since that's the only good thing to ever come from that god forsaken country (except crepes). to start off i put up a couple tracks from digikid-84, a fairly new french producer with a kind of hip-hop sound to his electro songs (he is black, so....)
